Music Meme

A post of real substance later! (Maybe.) But first... it's meme time! Yanked from [info]mumumugen)

Step 1: Put your media player on random. iPod in my case
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is cheating.

  1. I've been thinking about our love situation
  2. Wrapped inside a twisted world - Tara MacLean, "Holy Tears" - [info]silver_astrila
  3. Broadway is dark tonight - Goo Goo Dolls, "Broadway" - [info]gnine
  4. There's another world inside of me that you may never see - Three Doors Down, "When I'm Gone" - [info]justtheficsmaam
  5. I never cared too much for love
  6. All my thugs cock your nines like this *hides face*
  7. She turned up her nose as she walked by my Cadillac
  8. So lately been wondering who will be there to take my place
  9. This ain't no temporary, typical, tearful goodbye (nuh uh uh)
  10. Here I am in the place where I come to let go--
  11. If you ain't got no money take your broke ass home - Fergie, "Glamorous" - [info]little_blue
  12. For just one time, I would take the Northwest Passage - Stan Rogers, "Northwest Passage" - [info]silver_astrila
  13. What you want, baby I got it - Aretha Franklin, "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." - [info]justtheficsmaam
  14. Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking - All-American Rejects, "Move Along" - [info]little_blue
  15. I just want to be alone tonight
  16. Thousands of people live in this town
  17. I'm coming out so you better get this party started - Pink, "Get This Party Started" - [info]naye
  18. Poor old grandad, I laughed at all his words
  19. Across the street, the river runs - Rod Stewart, "The Rhythm of My Heart" - [info]gnine
  20. He took a rifle and killed a disciple so that those nagging thoughts would leave him in peace

I think in this case, my iPod is revealing to the world how incredibly mainstream and boring my music tastes are (most of the time...)

Well, #4 and #17 seem familiar (especially #17) but can I think of the title or artist? That'd be a no!! *sigh* But then, I've never been good at putting titles to music!

A good portion of these are Top 40, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if you've heard 'em ;)

Though it's even more likely if you have a time machine AMIRITE? XD

I've just posted this meme on my LJ, and even though I've just looked up the lyrics, I have to admit that I would be hard-pressed to name all 20 songs!! Memory loss? Yep, I haz it!!

Haha... I have a key saved in case I forget. Memory loss is a sad, very common affair I'm afraid ;)

Yep, it is! Thank goodness I've saved them to the PC - and backed them up to a flashdrive, because, yes, I am that paraniod about crashing hard drives!!

How sad is it that I have a calendar on the computer to send me alerts for all sorts of mundane things - like not forgetting to go set up the DVD recorder in an hour's time!! Or to get something out of the freezer for the evening meal so that it can defrost! Etc and so on!!

...I need to listen to more music, apparently! Only #17 seems familiar - Pink, "Get This Party Started", right?

My pop stations comfort me during my long commutes in traffic. Seriously, I have the music tastes of a teenager.

Only #17 seems familiar - Pink, "Get This Party Started", right?

You are correct! Actually, there's a few others where the title is in the lyric.

Is #13 Aretha? I can hear a few lines of it in my head, but I can't get to the title!

Yep, it's definitely Aretha! (Not sure if I'm allowed to give any more hints ;)

Dang! It was "RESPECT"! I thought it was a different one, and that I just couldn't remember which!

Holy crap, if this is all mainstream music, then I think I need to get out more. The only one I recognize is #12 - Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers. Is it cheating if the title is in the lyrics? :)

That's it!

Is it cheating if the title is in the lyrics? :)

Nope, not cheating at all ;) Several of them actually have the title in the lyric.

I guess mainstream may be a teeny bit misleading, as they're not all on the Billboard Charts now, but they have been in the past. But with the exception of, hrm, three or four, all of these have had serious radio play time on either Top 40, Country, or Rap stations.

Okay, I lied :)

#2 is by Tara MacLean, Holy Tears. I'm thinking someone may have been a Due South fan. . . NOW I don't recognize any more. I promise.

D'aww, but it's fun when people recognize them!

I'm thinking someone may have been a Due South fan

Hee! Just a little bit. I love both of those soundtracks to death, and it depends on which day of the week which one is my favorite of the two.
